Mission & Goals
It has been and will continue to be a cherished desire of the students as well as parents to earn a B. Tech degree of the country’s prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology popularly known as IITs. The admission to these institutions is through a joint entrance test IIT-JEE. It is difficult to crack this test. Only the talented ones are able to get through it and enter the portals of IITs. With a view to augment the regular school studies a number of coaching institutes have sprung up. But these are beyond the reach of students belonging to poor families.
Therefore there is no equality of opportunity to complete for admission to IITs. This aspect was looked into by a Samaritan Mr. Anand Kumar. He introduced a concept of super-17. He had proved that hitherto the talent from poor families remained unexplored because of inequalities in the opportunities.
Following his concept, Gurukul education & charitable Trust has come up with a mission to provide the facilities to the students of Punjab belonging to economically weaker sections. The trust which is financially supported by a Chandigarh based NGO – Sanjeevani, which has earlier provided scholarship of Rs. 50 lakh in last three years to the poor students of Gurukul Vidyapeeth, is also involved in this novel venture for the state of Punjab. The trust believes that quality education is key for industrialization in Punjab which is presently not in the competitive stage in comparison to other states of Punjab. The trust also wants to break the notation that the private sector in education not only caters to elite but also contributing in the overall development of weaker section of society.
